We are pleased to launch the 2026 Microfunding Competition, offering up to £5,000 per project for initiatives that advance our shared vision of a sustainable future shaped by cutting-edge science.
What we are looking for:
Funded projects will address at least three of the following aims:

Raise awareness of quantum and advanced materials for sustainability

Identify and overcome barriers to innovation and implementation
-
Promote good research practice and ethical conduct
-
Foster interdisciplinary and external collaboration
-
Support early career researchers
-
Generate measurable societal, technological or academic impact
Who Can Apply
All members of the University – students (UG/PG), postdocs, academics, assistant and academic-related staff – are eligible. We particularly welcome collaborative teams spanning different departments and disciplines. Project leads must be enrolled or under contract for the full duration of the project.
